Sorry to hear about Michael's death. I worked as a writer on his first TV special "Romp!!!", directed by Al Burton. Michael was a good natured and specially talented guy who could make fun of himself.

living out of the USA for the last decade I just learned of Michael Blodgett's death. Very sad indeed. Unfortunate that there is hardly any mention in the mainstream media .
Michael was my friend and co-conspirator almost twenty years ago . He had some success in the arts but was unfulfilled in all ports of his life experience.
We had an affair of the heart but his indecision and unhappiness were too much to bare at that time .
Had not thought of him in oh so many years.
He was a unique individual.
My prayers are for him.

Mikes good looks were legendary in Minneapolis.I met him in the spring of 1959 at the University of Minnesota. He was a wild and crazy guy. It was 2AM and there was a knock on the door to my house. My father goes downstairs to see what is going on. He comes into my room wakes me and says a guy named Mike is downstairs, He needs to borrow a book. WTF I think to myself. Sure enough it's Mike. Come on he says Bill and I don't want to call it a night get dressed and come on with us. To say he was shit faced would be an understatement. I threw some clothes on and went to the car. Bill drove a VW bug. 1958 I think. I got in the back. Bill is drunker then Mike. It is 15 degress below zero, the streets are like ice and these two guys are out of control. I pipe up lets get shelly, I figure if I am going to die in a car accident I may as well have my closest friend with me. We get to his house, I get out of the car,tap on his bedroom window and wake him up. He gets dressed and comes along. We end up at an all night rib joint,Mike and bill sober up they drop me off at my house at about 7AM. We never did have an accident. I spent many afternoons with Mike at an off campus bar(CAPS) he would tell me about how he was going to go to California and becoming a movie star. He called me one last time to tell me he was on his way to California, I wished him good luck. I was sad to hear of his passing. RIP Mike. Lou R. Side note/ He would walk into the dressing room at Daytons Department store in downtown Minneapolis. Daytons created the Target Stores. He would take off his pants and shirt. He would then put on two pair of slacks and two shirts, put his clothes back on and walk out of the store smiling and looking good.He had the guts of a burglar. I have many more fond memories of Mike. He was a one of a kind.

I, too, was sorry to hear of the passing of Michael Blodgett. The show in the 60's previously mentioned was taped at the beach and aired locally weeknights from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. The name of the show, appropriately enough, was "Groovy" and Michael did a terrific job. Of course, nightly bikini contests might have had something to do with me tuning in.

So sorry to hear about Michael Blodgett. If I remember correctly, he was on a teen music/dance show in the 60's, set at the beach. My sister and I both had huge crushes on him, and we still giggle about him to this day. My condolences to his family. A piece of our past is gone but will live on in our hearts!
