Absolutely sublime dancing with Fred Astaire, above, in The Band Wagon (Vincente Minnelli 1953) and Silk Stockings (Rouben Mamoulian 1957). Equally well matched with Gene Kelly in Singin’ in the Rain (Gene Kelly/Stanley Donen 1952), Brigadoon (Minnelli 1954), and It’s Always Fair Weather (Kelly & Donen 1955). Two spectacular solo numbers in Party Girl (Nicholas Ray 1958). Striking even in a non-dancing role opposite Kirk Douglas in Two Weeks in Another Town (Minnelli 1962). And so much more.
She was simply the greatest female screen dancer who ever lived.

One of the many indications of Cyd's brilliance is the memorable impact that she is able to make in such a short time in Singin' in the Rain. It's no wonder she became a favored partner of both Astaire and Kelly. She was a wonder.
